Mining and Construction Training is excited to announce that we are in a partnership with All States Training RTO #32577 to be able to offer this great course to students across all parts of Australia through our Remote Learning Platform. 


The Standard 11 Skill Set from the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package meets the QLD regulatory requirements for those aiming to work in surface mining operations.  

Participants who undertake the Standard 11 program will be gaining the requisite knowledge and skills identified by industry as being of paramount importance when working on site.

The Standard 11 course ensures that the generic safety information and obligations, applicable on all types of mine sites are provided to workers prior to working on a mine site.



Entry Requirements

No formal previous learning is required for this course however participants are encouraged to gain a general knowledge of the mining industry and environment before starting the course. It is acknowledged that this is a course based on a Certificate II level qualification that requires appropriate levels of language, literacy and numeracy skills to manage course work, in-course activities and assessment tasks.

This Skill Set from the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package meets the Queensland regulatory requirements for those aiming to work in open-cut coal mining operations.

    • We can offer our courses to students throughout Australia. Due to the variances in WHS legislation across the jurisdictions, we have based the learning and assessment in this course on the Safe Work Australia Model legislation. You will gain knowledge and skills of how to research, investigate and apply the Model legislation in various scenarios. Returning to the workplace, you will be able to use the skills you have learnt with the legislation applicable to your jurisdiction.

Mandatory requirements for all participants 

Participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Complete the mandatory Pre-Course Survey 

  • Supply their own laptop (laptops must be capable of MS Word, PDF, and be USB compatible)

  • Have a good level of computer literacy skills. Your assignments will need to be uploaded onto the computer for assessing, and if you do not have a suitable level of computer experience, you will not be able to complete the course in the timeframe allotted.

  • Be able to navigate through web browsers

  • Have the skills to compile electronic documents using software applications (word processing)

  • Be able to conduct research and present information

  • If English is a second language, you will need to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) questionnaire. Contact us to discuss.
